The display resolution is one detail that gets the most attention, but the type of display used is equally important. AMOLED displays are best suited for multimedia consumption as they are characterized by deep, awesome blacks and high contrast ratios. If that kind of richness is what you value above all else, here are some of the Best AMOLED display mobile phones you can buy for under Rs. 20,000.

What are AMOLED displays in Mobile Phones?

If you are new to the subject, here is a brief explanation before we proceed. Unlike LCD displays, AMOLED panels don’t have a backlight. This means each pixel is powered separately. This also means the pixel can be completely turned off to render black color. Long story short, AMOLEDs have deep blacks, high contrast ratio, and mostly offer better HDR performance. They are best suited for multimedia consumption. The whites on AMOLED used to be less bright than whites on IPS LCD panels, but that’s no longer the case anymore.  There are a few other AMOLED drawbacks too. To start with, AMOLED screens are more susceptible to burn-ins and degradation over a period of time, but the effect is not very noticeable throughout the normal life cycle. One major AMOLED drawback is PWM flicker. AMOLED displays on phones use a shady technique called pulse width modulation for decreasing brightness. Using PWM, the pixels are turned off and on in succession to create an illusion of low brightness, which induces a flicker that may result in eye fatigue. Most consumers aren’t bothered by PWM flicker but a few are, especially while gaming and using their phones at night time.  ALSO READ: Best 90Hz and 120Hz Display Refresh Rate Phones To Buy In 2022
