The Apple Vs Samsung Dilemma Revisited

Recently, The Wall Street Journal released a documentary on iPhones and their 15 years of history from the first-ever iPhone to all the latest ones. For the uninitiated, the original iPhone was launched around the same timeline as the first Android-powered phones and the Samsung Galaxy series took a much more significant portion of the latter. In the documentary, Greg Joswait – Marketing Chief at Apple, mentioned that the South Korean giant ripped off iPhones during its initial days. According to Greg, Samsung ripped off the technology behind an iPhone, slapped a large screen on it, and released what came to be known as the Galaxy S and Note series. The chief mentioned that although Samsung and Apple phones were poles apart, Samsung made it a point to include a large display and a physical home button on its initial touchscreen phones which resemble much like iPhones albeit with larger displays. He further added that the South Korean giant wrapped a lot of technologies in a phone with a large screen wrapped around it and released “poor copy” products which is a reference to Apple’s high-quality iPhones to date. Both Apple and Samsung have been top contenders when it comes to units shipped only to see Chinese bigwigs like Huawei and Xiaomi taking the upper positions. iPhone 6 and 6 Plus become the most popular smartphone in the industry. The current series that Apple is operating is the iPhone 13 series comprising four models and it is gearing to release iPhone 14 series this year. On the contrary, Samsung has been releasing smartphones in various price ranges including the Galaxy A, M, and S series where the latter being the flagship ones.
