The online segment of the previous one is still going strong by receiving new content and improvements on the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

GTA 6 Announcement

Rockstar games tweeted announcing active development on GTA 6. They also said- “We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details. On behalf of our entire team, we thank you all for your support  and cannot wait to step into the future with you.” ALSO READ: Redmi 10 Specs revealed by Geekbench Listing; MediaTek Helio G88 SoC & 4GB RAM Although Rockstar Games hasn’t confirmed anything more, some other reports hint about the story, release date, and setting of the game.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Release

The standard format with Rockstar Games has been an official Twitter announcement, after which there is a wait of 22-23 months to see a launch date. This aligns with an analyst statement from investment banking firm Jefferies, who claims that Rockstar has at least one IP set to be released by FY24. If this is true, then GTA 6 release can be expected somewhere between April 2023 to March 31, 2024. Furthermore, a leak from YouTuber Tom Henderson also matches these dates claiming that GTA 6 is unlikely to release before 2024 or 2025. Reports claim that Rockstar is trying to avoid a situation wherein they promise a release date and then fail to deliver on it. If this happens, then companies become a subject of ridicule for their horrendous bugs and textures.

GTA 6 will launch on which platforms?

Looking at the success of its predecessor, GTA 6 will most probably launch on PC and consoles like PS5 and Xbox Series X|S simultaneously. It is highly unlikely to see Rockstar launching the next GTA game on mobile.

Will there be GTA 6 online?

GTA Online has been a good strategy to keep players in the GTA ecosystem as the online version gets frequent updates with new heists, missions, vehicles, weapons, costumes, events, and more. Since Rockstar has added a huge multiplayer base to GTA 4 and 5, it is expected that GTA 6 will come with the same features as well.

The setting of GTA 6

GTA 6 is expected to return to Vice City, which is the series version of Miami. Reports from July 2021 hint at GTA’s return to Vice City, though nothing has been confirmed yet.

GTA 6 Expected Storyline

Many rumors keep popping up about what the story will be and where it will be set, but one constant rumor has been the setting of Vice City, the titular metropolitan town from the classic game. The report was corroborated by Bloomberg journalist Jason Schrier who tweeted, “Idk why everyone thinks that I said GTA VI was coming in 2023. Everything Tom Henderson has said about the game matches up with what I have heard.” Rockstar draws huge inspiration from real-life cities and events, with the original Vice City set sometime towards the decline of the hippie revolution. This time we will get to see a modern-day recreation emulating the neon-drenched look of Miami, sources claim. Another theory that is doing rounds is that GTA 6 will take place across 3 different countries- fictional representations based around the USA, Miami, and Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Players will be able to fly between them as part of the story, or just for sightseeing. The story details involve a drug empire, ever-changing weather, and vehicles that let you store the equipment in the trunk- similar to the horse in Red Dead Redemption 2. The plot seems to be inspired by Netflix’s Narcos as you run through the borders smuggling cocaine and the like. The game is also rumored to touch upon topics such as HIV and immigration problems and is said to have a 60-hour long story. The GTA 6 might take some interactive mechanics from Red Dead Redemption 2, where NPCs randomly comment on your outfit and greet you. You might also get into scuffles by responding in an impolite manner, affecting your wanted level. A report in 2016 had claimed that GTA 6 was based around Tokyo. This was said because a group of developers had visited the Japanese capital, met up with locals, and taken reference photos several years ago. Most likely the idea was called off later.
