OnePlus 10 Pro fails in a bending test

Zack from JerryRigEverything is a popular YouTuber who does all kinds of durability tests on smartphones including bend tests, flame tests, and scratch tests. Recently, he got his hands on a Chinese OnePlus 10 Pro and it was pitted against the myriad of durability tests. The first was a scratch test. With a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on top, the phone offers a higher grade of protection against scratches. It started showing signs of scratches at level 6 on with deeper grooves at level 7 of the Mohs hardness scale. It goes on to show that the OnePlus 10 Pro is using a quality glass on top and not sapphire and not that it promised the latter so it did pass this test. The flame test on the phone ran for about 40 seconds before the section of the AMOLED panel began to toast and burned never to come back. This is a case with all AMOLED panels so the OnePlus 10 Pro did pass it too. However, the phone failed the bend test so easily. The phone was subjected to bend the screen up and as seen in the video, the panel glass panel developed serious cracks while the phone did bend a lot permanently. Perhaps, the phone was still working even in a bent state, however, the OnePlus 10 Pro was subjected to another round of bending with the face (or screen) down. What amazes us is how easily the phone simply broke into two halves although the connectors did keep the phone connected. The OnePlus 10 Pro failed the bend test quite miserably which is a setback for many OnePlus fans since these phones are touted to have a higher degree of durability. You can watch a bend test on OnePlus 6 released in 2018 which passed the test but the OnePlus 10 Pro didn’t. Perhaps the placement of the antenna line on the left and power button on the right as well as the battery placement just beneath the camera setup could be the weakling as the phone did snap at the exact juncture of the four. Note that although the bend test usually takes a lot of force to actually bend a phone, many phones do survive but the OnePlus 10 Pro is surprisingly not on the durable side of the table. If you decide to buy the OnePlus 10 Pro, do not try to do a bend test.
